When Original is no longer Authentic

| Saturday, November 24, 2007

Asssalamualaikum

I've decided to spend my weekend back at home. Since big brother just finished his finals and now it is a school holiday, everyone is here at home. Mom did promise little nephew some action figure for getting a top five spot is his recent examination. On top of that we plan on having dinner together at the Sate Kajang Hj. Samuri at Taman Melati. After moving from one lot to a join lot nearby, I've expected a better service and better dining layout than before, but I thought wrong. Here is what happened.

Arrived at Taman Melati around 8 pm and by the looks of it, the premise was kinda congested, but that is a normal scenario. Parked the car, it was our luck that as soon as we entered the place, there was a recently vacated table at out expense. Sat down, but it was a back to back seating. From my observations, there were even table with benches where people sat while having their backs rubbing against each other. Thats just show how people was stuffed in the restaurant.

Unfortunately, it doesn't end there. You think getting a seat is hard, getting our order was even tougher. It took 10 minutes for the worker to realize that there was new customer and clean out the table. Order taken, 15 minutes later they arrived and again I suffered another blow, my drink didn't arrive. Told the waiter, and another 15 minutes I have to wait.

It was a dinner not to enjoy. It was full of distress or should I say tension. I could see that I was not the only one suffering as I could see others who had their frowning face on. Why is this happening?

I remember eating Sate Kajang Haji Samuri back at the original place at a corner lot near Metro Kajang. The service then was marvelous, and at that time, you only pay what you can eat. Which means that they will calculate how many sticks was consumed and they took back the rest. The service was more heart warming. That was the only sate Kajang outlet I remembered. But since then, the business flourished which is a good sign and Haji Samuri began opening a lot of outlets all aroung Klang Valley. That was when he lost sight of whats important.

Outlets all around Klang Valley had an image like a fast food restaurant and the service level began to deteriorate. The taste of sate is somewhat losing its originality. (can't blame them, last time they use hand held fan, now...big electric fan).

Now back to my dinner, when they move from a single lot to a double lot, I've expected better service, but I got otherwise. The seats was so uncomfortable for a long legged creature like myself. They increase number of table inside but not the number or worker. It's as if profit was what matters but no longer customer satisfaction. I only have one word; GREED.

Maybe that is my last time having dinner there. I will remind myself that if I want Sate Kajang badly, I might as well spend extra and have it where it came from, not some franchise outlet that only think about profit, profit and profit. Wassalam.

Proton SUCKS!!!

| Thursday, November 22, 2007

Assalamualaikum

Sori dah lama tak hapdet, been bz lately, tapi biler dapat berita pagi tadi I had to let this out.

I'm called here to express my anger at our so called leading car manufacturer Proton. No wonder they are no longer getting the profit they expected...here is why I said this...

PROTON SUCKS!!!

Recently someone close to me decided to book the new Proton Persona at a local Proton dealer at Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur (No more hiding...lantaklah apa nak jadi kat kedai korang!!!). This dealer, masa nak booking bukan main lagi kata2 manis kuar dapat keretanya sebelum raya, cuba korang kira sekarang bulan berapa? Dah nak masuk bulan doblas pon masih takde khabar berita.

Kalau terus terang takpe, ini cakap macam keling. Dah delay bukan nak inform. Bila kol asyik masuk mailbox. Tau nak kontek pakai sms jer...bodoh nyer dealer. Bila dah gi kedai, menyorok. Cilaka betol kan? Nak cekik duit deposit ler tuh...

Pasal tu lah korang rugi. Memang padan pon. Kualiti tak jaga tapi ada ISO itulah, ISO inilah. Rasuah ke?

Sekarang duit deposit takleh amik balik, kereta tah tahun biler nak dapat? Menyusahkan orang betol. Manusia lahanat!!!

Lain kali monitor le kalau nak jaga hati rakyat Malaysia supaya beli kereta Proton lagi. Aku geram biler dengar citer2 macam nih. Nasib baik aku tak kerja ngan Proton dah, kalau tak dengan aku2 malu.

Kalau orang Proton baca nih, ambil tindakan. Untuk pembaca lain,
JANGAN BELI KERETA PROTON ANDA KAT DEALER PROTON JALAN SEMARAK KUALA LUMPUR.

Pertama, aku keluar untuk buka akaun cukai pendapatan sebab takot orang kata aku dah kena bayar patotnya; takot kena denda masuk naik turun court. Kedua aku hidupkan kembali akaun Bank Bumiputra a.k.a Bumiputra Commerce a.k.a CIMB Bank. Sejak akaun aku ada kat situ, dah tiga nama dah dia pakai. Duit tetap tak melimpah ruah jugak. Huhuhu. Ketiga, tolong Mama Abah soping untuk event makan2 dengan kumpulan tadarus Mama bulan pose haritu.

Kes Pertama:
Terus tuju ke opis LHDN kat Wangsa Maju depan Jusco Alpha Angle sebab takot ramai orang kat sana. Pagi2 lepas bekfas terus gi. Sesampe kat sana, lega sebab orang tak ramai lagi..blom time bayar cukai lagi kot. Gi kaunter pertanyaan untuk menyatakan hajat..huhu. Dia check Slip Gaji. Dia kata takyah bayar lagi...YAHOO!!!! So aku selama nih gelabah rupa2nya derang tengok gaji pokok bukan gaji bersih. Alhamdulillah. Bleh ler aku menabung. Wakakaka.

Malas nak eleborate kat sini sebab banyak sangat barangnya. Hiks. Yang penting aku dapat mender besh kat sana iaitu DVD game FIFA Soccer 08 keluaran EA Sports. Dah ada kat pasaran untuk PS2. YES!!!

Kes Ketiga:
Selesai sumer, baru gi bank. Urusan kat Customer Service agak lembab sket. Orangnya macam takder je kat meja. Setibanya dia kat meja dan nombor aku dipanggil, everything is just smooth. Sekarang buat kad dah senang, dapat kad, dapat pin, dapat bukak akaun online. Sumer bleh buat dengan satu persinggahan. Senang kerja. Simpan kat CIMB nih selamat sket, sebab kat tempat aku kerja CIMB takder...kena gi jauh. Duit kat Maybank ler jadi mangsa selalunya. Hahaha.

Ok ler...untuk yang datang nih...nak share lagi lagu yang sedang terngiang2 kat tinga nih masa kat kedai2 tadi.

This Is How A Heart Breaks

by Rob Thomas

Don't you wanna go for a ride
Just keep your hands inside
And make the most out of life
Now don't you take it for granted
Life is like a mean machine
It made a mess out of me
And let me come between
Like an anchor dream, I was stranded
I was stranded, yeah yeah yeah

And I'm steady but I'm starting to shake
And I don't know how much more I can take

Chorus:
Well this is it now
Everybody get down
This is all I can take
This is how a heart breaks
You take a hit now
You feel it break down
Make you stay wide awake
This is how a heart breaks

Don't you wanna go for a ride
Now to the other side
Feels so good you could cry
Now won't you do what I told you
I remember when you used to be shy
Once we were so fine, you and I
And why you gotta make it so hard on me
Hey it's hard on me

And I'm sorry but it's not a mistake
And I'm running but you're getting away

Chorus:
Well this is it now
Everybody get down
This is all I can take
This is how a heart breaks
You take a hit now
You feel it break down
Make you stay wide awake
This is how a heart breaks
This is how a heart breaks

You're not the best thing that I knew
Never was, never cared too much for all this hanging around
It's just the same thing all the time
Never get what I want, never get too close to the end of the line
You're just the same thing that I knew
Right before the time when I was running from you

Chorus:
Well this is it now
Everybody get down
This is all I can take
This is how a heart breaks
You take a hit now
You feel it break down
Make you stay wide awake
This is how a heart breaks

Chorus:
Well this is it now
Everybody get down
This is all I can take
This is how a heart breaks
You take a hit now
You feel it break down
Make you stay wide awake
This is how a heart breaks

Oh yeah
This is how a heart breaks
Oh-oh-oh
This is how a heart breaks

I can't take it
How a heart breaks
Oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah
I can't take it
This is how a heart breaks
Oh-oh

This is how a heart breaks
This is how a heart breaks

My Week As Invigilator

| Friday, November 2, 2007

Assalamualaikum

It was a week full of incidents. As told in my previous entry, this was the semester 1’s final exam week.

This final exam is the third time I’ve became invigilator and I must say that this time it was the most tiring and full of incidents.

Banquet Hall ~ My examination center

Very comfortable room ~ air conditioned

Maybe because I was carrying out my 6 day sunat fasting while invigilating, I tend to get tired easily and often dozed off couple of times. Hiks. But I did my job tremendously nonetheless. Of all five day invigilating, Thursday was the day that we’ve received a lot of problems. But let’s talk about the exam generally first.

To my surprise, I presume that being here at matriculation level, these students understood fully on the technicallity of objective papers after experiencing UPSR, PMR and SPM before. General instruction was to shade the given region with 2B grade pencil and avoid using pen and mechanical pencil. But suprisingly they manage to do otherwise. There are some who shaded using pen and when they realized their mistake, decided to shade on top with pencil. You see, the problem will arise when the objective paper scan these papers. Unfortunately, it is proven when an objective papers are shaded with pen or mechanical pencil, very often that the scanner aren’t able to detect thus creating error during the scanning process. Thankfully at my examination center, I took precaution by preventing students to bring in any pen or mechanical pencil into the examination hall. But this thing still happened at other examination centers.

Now let’s talk about the Thursday incidents. In my history if invigilating, never have I encountered two cheaters in one single day. Both came from a center at the tutorial complex. Both were discovered to use smuggled notes (toyol) to answer their question. In fact, one of the even did two attempts after his first attempt was quickly discovered.

Here was what he did. After finding out that his first toyol didn’t have the specific topic that was contested in the exam question, he decided to ask for permission to go the restroom, but the fact he was running back to his hostel and manage to wrote down a new sets of toyol. He manages to loose the invigilator who was escorting him. And when he came back into the hall, he even had the guts to do the cheating even when the head invigilator was standing next to him watching him carrying his wrongdoings. So funny or should I say…extremely stupid.

The second one was a girl. At the final of the given paper, she was supposed to submit unused paper back. Unfortunately, she crumpled those papers into one big ball and when asked to unfold, a bunch of small (toyol)s was discovered inside it. Her excuse was she didn’t study the previous night due to overslept. Hmmm…

Whatever it is, whats done is done, the past is gone and the future is up for grab. Take care now bye bye then…adios

Me and My New Nokia N95

| Saturday, October 27, 2007

Assalamualaikum

It's been a week since I've been using Nokia N95 as my primary companion replacing my previous Nokia N70. Not that I'm not happy with N70, but ever since my Mama started complaining about her hand phone having some problems, I have been searching for a device worthy of substituting my old N70 so that I can give it to her as a replacement. After giving it some thoughts, I've decided Nokia N95 fits my needs for bombastic gadget perfectly. Hiks.

My newly belovedN95

Like the advertisements on TV said, Nokia N95 is what computers have become. That quote really tempt me to own this phone. As far as my Mama knows this is most probably the phone that will last with me for a couple of years from now. But who knows? Hahaha (Laughing twistedly).

Next week marks the beginning of the Finals of Semester 1 of 07/08 session. The last five days has really tested my patience with my students, especially those who came in late for a major discussion. I was disappointed to be asked such simple question from the students and even my colleagues said that it was their first time seeing me outburst. And when I raise my voice a little bit, that means I am very mad. People never see me scold student for asking question. That was it for me. I had to let it out.

And I'm so glad the study week is over. All I can say now for those matriculation students out there all around Malaysia....all the best and may you succeed in anything that you venture. Amin

Little Black Book

| Thursday, October 25, 2007

Assalamualaikum

Dear blog,

I watched this damn good movie yesterday entitled Little Black Book, and I have gained a lot from it. The story was about how a young girl felt betrayed by someone she truly love and trust. Try as she could, she realized that she could not control everything that has happened. But after some provocation, she finally opened her eyes and discovered that she is too good for him. After that, all well ends well.

dangerous book?

I’d gain an important lesson from watching this movie. We always tried to take things positively until eventually we realized that it all just a bunch of lies...and sometimes we refuse to accept the truth that you aint gonna get what you expected. And sometimes it is best to just go with the flow and let life lead wherever it may. And I truly understand it now.

There are several times that the event taken place raises some kind of reasonable doubt over someone. And that the person is holding back because they actually aren't happy with you. You hate to admit it but like it or not one day you are going to face it. The day that you experience the terrible feeling being lied to actually is the beginning of the process of you two growing further apart.

Do you have a black book? If you do I suggest you destroy it and put your feet on the ground and try to think what’s important in your life. Give it a deep thought before you let someone signigficant in your life slip away.

p.s: What I wrote today is just my interpretation of the movie. It has nothing to do with anyone in real life. Any similarities are simply coincidence. But that’s what life is.

Diagnostic Test

| Tuesday, October 23, 2007

Assalamualaikum,

Haven't got time to write yesterday as I was to busy with workloads. Yesterday as promised, all the PPSMI lecturers are required to sit for English diagnostic test.

The paper consist of three parts. Quite frankly I think it was a little bit difficult because the text given to us was more on biology subject. So I guess the biology lecturers shouldn't have any difficulty in elaborating the facts in the text. For me it was more like double...erm no triple reading before I could understand what it actually means.

But alhamdulillah I was able to finish in time and I believed that I did quite well fro a person who haven't sat for any important examination for a long long time. Hiks. Maybe next year I will be seating for my PTK papers and I am very determined to try and pass on the first attempt which not many government servants have done.

Anyway today is my first day of six day sunat fasting in Syawal. It is also my first attempt ever in my whole life. Hopefully by performing sunat fasting I would become a better person in the future. Insya-Allah. Until then take care now bye bye then

My Nokia N70...My GPS

| Wednesday, October 17, 2007

Assalamualaikum

I'm so excited about this that I can't wait until tomorrow to write about it. It's not like everyday that I write two entries in one day.

Upon exploring the internet browsing for new Nokia model that would suit my needs, I encountered a widget or software for my Nokia N70 that is so remarkable considering that it is FREE OF CHARGE!

I've got this information from browsing through several international websites of Nokia. At first I was thinking of getting myself a N95 because of its capability of GPS. Turns out that my existing N70 can use GPS also. That's interesting. Reading the web even further I found out that the service is FREE. All I needed to do was download the Nokia symbian software and install it on my N70, install the map loader on my laptop and of course, an internet connection...voila, my N70 is now a GPS enabled gadget. I'm so thrilled.

it even has my home area in it

I've downloaded the map of Asia from the website that Nokia provided and uploaded it into my N70 memory card. The most exciting thing is...I can even browse on my own home area...in DETAIL. I can also plan route all around Kuala Lumpur and it even has a database of place to visit all around Malaysia. In the picture here is a simulation of suggested route from my house to Alpha Angle, my favourite hanging out place.

If you are a Nokia N-series user and you enjoy having GPS in it, click HERE to begin and follow the instructions. Enjoy. Take care now bye bye then.

Finding Adventures

Assalamualaikum,

Today is the 5th day of eid and I'm done with visiting people. Hiks. Today my Mama is expecting friends over and she is getting ready with her special gravy noodle. I can't entirely call it curry noodle or anything. It's just her gravy is much more tomato like thingy. Huh. I can't explain more. All I know that it is delicious. :P

My sweetheart Lara

I've also managed to finish what I've started few weeks back; playing Tomb Raider: Anniversary on my PS2. It's was remarkable. I can't believe it has been 10 years since the first Tomb Raider game came into my life...series after series created by Eidos and it never fail to amaze me with the gameplay. Lara Croft did light up my life...if you know what I mean.

I've also simultaneously solved 9 books of Kakuro at the holiday's expense. I'm not bored but I'm running out of Kakuro puzzle to solve. Hiks. Doing it just to keep my brain working during the holiday.

Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor - Malaysian 1st Astronaut

Yesterday I've watch the conversation out Prime Minister had with the first Malaysian astronaut, Sheikh Muszaphar. He was having his time at the ISS. During the conversation, suddenly he decided to recite the Rukun Negara in front of national telecast. Unfortunately, if anyone else out there besides me realized, he made one unforgiven mistake when reciting one of the rukun...he said "keluruhan perlembagaan" when what he supposed to say was "keluhuran perlembagaan". Keluruhan Perlembagaan means falling-out of the constitution while keluhuran perlembagaan means sublimity or glorious of the constitution. So the two word mean exactly the opposite. Hiks. Maybe zero gravity has gotten into his head.

And from the looks of Pak Lah's face, he also spotted Sheikh's mistake but decided not to correct him cause it might embarrass him. Huhuhu...tell you what happens if the constitution were to fall-out.

p.s: Right now I'm in dilemma of getting something for myself. Hopefully everything will be resolved the next few days.

Eid: 1st day

| Saturday, October 13, 2007

Assalamualaikum,

It has been a serene Eid morning. Preparations for morning feast with the whole family was in order. As usual, Abah would recite the doa selamat before feasting. The menu is something that I would die for...Mama's specialty, Palas Leaf Ketupat a.k.a Triangle Ketupat and beef rendang. It is the course that I have been craving every
raya.

After eating, our family continue the tradition of 'beraya' where the young ask forgiveness from those who are older. Tears were shed as this is the first time we had Eid without our beloved Nek.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Standing inside the praying hall

Like any other raya before, it is out family's norm to perform Solat Sunat at mosque. This year we chose Wilayah Mosque. But this time it was it little bit different than before. This time it was like attending Solat Sunat at foreign country. I can barely see local resident but I saw mostly Bangladeshi , Indonesian and Myanmar people filling in the mosque. Funnily Mat Rempit did attend but just to fill the gap at the mosque's parking lot. So ironic!

Back from prayers, it was another round of Mama's delicious ketupat while watching Eid Special TV show. Like any other year, it was the dynamic duo Rosyam Noor and Fauziah Nawi's acting that won my vote for today's touching telemovie.

Then a visit from my baby sitter's daughter, Kak Hanim gave my family a visit with her husband and her 4 children. Then all the story about what I did when I was in diapers came out. We forgot to fill in the cookie jars with cookies before visitor came so I did it while sampling some of it. Hiks.

*Tomorrow maybe we're going to give my Abah's side of the family a visit a Sijangkang, Klang.

Smallville 7

| Friday, October 12, 2007

Assalamualaikum

Bizarro

Spending time at home certainly have more benefit. For example I get to download my favorite TV Series Smallville that now has entered its seventh season. Photo above was whats left of Smallville series during the finale episode of season six. No...that is not Clark, that is Bizarro, Clark's exact copy that sampled Clark's DNA and replicated him.

In America, two episode now have passed, Episode 1 - Bizarro and Episode 2 - Kara. I've already watched the first one and in a process of downloading the second one.

new character, Kara a.k.a Supergirl a.k.a Superman's cousin

It was interesting start to the season, as Lana was killed in a freak bomb accident. Chloe is declared dead, while Lex was saved from inevitable death by a mysterious beautiful character played by Laura Vandervoort who seems to have exact power as Clark's...hmmm. Don't wanna spoil you guys watching Smallville so I'm gonna let you watch what happens next.

Safe Journey

| Thursday, October 11, 2007

Assalamualaikum,

Alhamdulillah I've made it home safely to celebrate Eid at home back in KL. I managed to snap a photo of my car's odometer during my trip home. As you can see, I am such an obedient driver. Hiks. I responded to the nation's aspiration to reduce the number of accidents during festive season by abiding the highways speed limit. (Otherwise you might see my meter hitting that 150km/h mark...just kidding)

To all Malaysian celebrating Eid this coming few days and traveling by motorized vehicles, I wish you all a safe journey back and forth. Drive carefully and remember your loved ones.

Biar membisu burung bersiulan terlelah gelombang lautan

Adakah engkau tahu… ini cinta
Adakah engkau pasti… ini untuk selama-lamanya

Relaku menunggumu seribu tahun lama lagi
