What's on page 47?

Assalamualaikum

Just got back from my routine day out in KL. As usual in the afternoon I had lunch at the Redbox Ria Karaoke center at Sogo KL. But this time I've decided to rush with my friend to Berjaya Time Square to catch the latest movie, the sequel to the 2004 National Treasure, National Treasure : Book of Secret, starring my favourite actor, Nicolas Cage. I'm so excited over watching this movie, especially after enjoying so much the first one.

The movie casts almost every original line of actors. The director also came back strong with new storyline. This movie never seems to stop to amaze me with all the clues and possibilities that relates to the real historical facts and real locations which involves mostly historical places in the United States.

Mainly the Treasure hunt began when Ben Gates [Nicolas Cage] embarks on a quest to clean his family's name from being associated with the assassination of US President, Abraham Lincoln, by finding the Lost City of Gold.

Nicolas Cage as Ben Gates

Need to know more, I suggest that you go see this movie for yourself. Satisfaction guaranteed. It is more like Tomb Raider if you ask me...but much realistic clues and puzzles. However there are certain things that don't make sense like breaking into Buckingham Palace and even kidnapping the President himself seems far fetched if you ask me. Entertaining nonetheless.

About the title. So what about it? What's on page 47 in the President's Secret Book? It was the question ringing in my head after watching the movie. Ben Gates said it would be a life altering. I supposed that there will definitely be a National Treasure 3 to answer this question...damn you Jon Turteltaub [Director] for making me anxious to wait for another sequel. Huhuhu...

Other than that I had so much fun spending time today in KL. I just love spending precious time doing something so much fun. Hope to do some more in the future. Until then take care now bye bye then.

Astigmatisme [Rabun Silau]

| Sunday, December 23, 2007

Assalamualaikum

It's finally happening to me. I finally have to admit that I have to wear spectacles. It not that I'm near sighted or far sighted, I'm just having some kind of eye sensitivity towards light, especially during the night, in science word...astigmatisme.

Lets review a little bit about astigmatisme...

Introduction
Astigmatism is a mild and easily treatable imperfection in the curvature of your eye. The condition can cause blurred vision.

Astigmatism occurs when the front surface of your eye (cornea) or the lens, inside your eye, has a slightly different surface curvature in one direction from the other. Instead of being even and smooth in all directions, the surface may have some areas that are flatter or steeper. When the cornea has a distorted shape, you have corneal astigmatism. When the lens is distorted, you have lenticular astigmatism. Either type of astigmatism can cause blurred vision.

Astigmatism blurs your vision at all distances. Astigmatism is often present at birth and may occur in combination with nearsightedness or farsightedness. The condition tends to remain constant, neither improving nor deteriorating much over time.

Astigmatism is common and affects most people to some degree. Often it's not pronounced enough to require corrective action. But when it is, treatments include corrective lenses and surgery. [mintak dijauhkan Tuhan operate2 nih]

Signs and Symptoms
Signs and symptoms of astigmatism may include:
  • Distortion in portions of your visual field [don't know what this means]
  • Blurring of vertical, horizontal or diagonal lines [exactly what happened to me]
  • Eyestrain or fatigue [often have this]
  • Headaches [everyday]

Causes

Astigmatism occurs when part of your eye has an irregular shape, resulting in blurred vision. An irregularity in the front surface of your eye (cornea) causes corneal astigmatism. An irregularity in the lens causes lenticular astigmatism.Astigmatism is one type of refractive error. In astigmatism, your cornea or lens is curved more steeply in one direction than in another. Uncorrected astigmatism blurs your vision. Typically, the blurred vision occurs more in one direction than in another — either horizontally, vertically or diagonally.

In most instances, astigmatism is present at birth. Sometimes, astigmatism develops after an eye injury, disease or surgery. Astigmatism isn't caused or made worse by reading in poor light, sitting too close to the television or squinting. [ok...maknanya nengok laptop nih bukan punca sebenar rabun silau nih...hiks]

this is when I finally give up and went to the optometrist and got myself a pair of specially made glasses that cost me RM360. The glasses will be ready this coming X'mas.

Well this is the disability that I newly acquired for myself. Hopefully I recover from it. Just wish it won't get worse. Coz I can't imagine myself...a four eye. Hiks. Until then, take care now bye bye then

Selamat Hari Raya Idul Adha

|

Assalamualaikum

I guess it's not too late to wish any of my readers happy Idul Adha. This is the forth day and I finally found some effort to write in.

Guess what? This raya is the first raya that I went to the Sunat prayers not wearing a proper Baju Melayu, instead I found some courage to put on the Jubah Mama bought for me at Mekah the last time she went to Haj some years ago. I said to myself what the heck, when else am I going to find excuse of wearing jubah rather than this time around the year? Of course at first I was restless because I felt that the jubah was making my movement a little bit limited. Huhuhu. But I looked not bad after taking a good look at the picture taken after the prayers. Don't you think?

Then yesterday out of nowhere suddenly my big brother decided to bring the whole family to the Eye of Malaysia ferris wheel ride. I never imagined myself getting on board of that thing. Although I often took the road which enables me to see the Eye, I never really had that urgency to get on it...don't know why. But since someone is sponsoring, well...why not?

We went there early to avoid ourselves from getting into long queue on a hot sunny day. Bought the tickets and found out we were going on board the Gondola Number 1. Huhuh...How honoured. Hiks. I was eager to see how far the eye can cover...obviously not the whole Malaysia. It should only be called The Eye of Kuala Lumpur...Huhuhu. Here are some of the sight you might be able to see while inside the gondola.

KLCC, KL Tower, Istana Budaya are among the landmarks identified

View from the highest stop during the ride

The metal support of the Eye of Malaysia

However there are several things that spoils the view upon riding the eye. Squatters, right next to the eye. It's just shows no matter how developed one country is, there will always a dark side to it.

Squatters, right next to the Titiwangsa Lake

I was just informed that the ride will be extended until August 2008 because apparently Visit Malaysia 2007 also have been extended to that date. Well I guess it is not to late for you people out there to catch this not so fantastic ride...huhuh. But if you never been on a Ferris Wheel, the Eye should provide you with some enjoyment...adios. Take care now bye bye then

More Than Meets The Eye.

Assalamulaikum,

It has been raining non-stop since yesterday evening. Hope last-year tragedy of flooding of Johor won't repeat itself.

Yesterday when I arrived home from work, I saw something I never saw before (some people might say...city boy...huhuh). It was magnificent, just to prove how great Allah creations are. This is what I saw hanging on my fence.

At first I thought it was a leaf

I thought wrong

It's a Grasshopper in disguise

Look at how real the grasshopper's wing looks like a leaf. Amazing...

p.s: Hope the rain stop soon. I am catching a cold.

Assalamualaikum

The final exam results are out. Happy and sadness are among the emotions expressed today all over college. I don't know which emotions I am having right now. Mostly mixed emotions. I hate to say goodbye.

Photography

|

Assalamualaikum

I was appointed as the committee member of Documentation unit for Quality day next week. Since then, I was offered to join basic course on photography which was held at Kolej Komuniti Jasin, Melaka. There was 14 of us who attended course on last Sunday.

This was the first time I was given the job as photographer by the college. And this is the first time I am going to handle a SLR (Single Lens Reflex) ~ I only knew this term during the course...hehehe. Obviously those who are not professional tend to buy SLR cameras but set the camera to auto setting, but it is more than just that. I learn how to make good photo just by doing few adjustments manually. I thoroughly enjoy the whole course. These are samples of photo taken by myself during that day.

Not bad eh...should take up photography as a hobby...but it is a very expensive hobby. Hope that one day someone might give it to me as a present maybe (dream on...hehehe)

Macam2 hal da

Assalamualaikum

Dah lama rasanya tak menulis kat sini. Seminar RnD minggu lepas terlalu memenatkan aku sehingga kini.

Majlis Perasmian...bored being made to wait for bigshots

Seminar berjalan dengan lancar, ketibaan disambut dengan begitu mesra. Berbual dengan orang kat situ, Hotel Grand Kampar tuh baru berusia 9 bulan. Check in, masuk bilik...bau perabot. Macam takder orang pernah duduk kat situ. Yang menakotkan, walaupon aircond off, bilik masih lagi sejuk. Petanda buruk.

Hari kedua, pembentangan seminar berjalan dengan lancar. Aku dilantik menjadi pencatit dalam salah satu sidang. Saat itu, badan dah rasa tak sedap. Malam itu, aku demam. Telan panadol, tapi tak jalan gak. Suhu terus meningkat.

Esoknya aku mengambil keputusan untuk rehat dibilik, tapi kepala ni rasa macam nak meletop. Telinga aku rasa macam boleh masak telor. Takleh jadi ni, terus minta urusetia hantar gi klinik terdekat.

Sampe di klinik, aku bagitau doktor aku kena tonsilitis fever, demam yang akan aku dapat lebih kurang 6 bulan sekali. Dia ukur suhu aku kat telinga, 39.8 darjah. Mak aii...patot macam nak meletop kepala aku. Amik ubat balik rehat. Ubat dia power, telan2 terus pengsan. Huhuhu. Sedar2 badan ni dah macam melayang2. Tapi suhu badan dah reda. Bleh pergi lawatan yang dalam jadual. Ikot pakej gi Taman Herba Perak kat jalan nak gi Batu Gajah tuh.

Bunga Harum Sundal Malam

Macam2 ler herba yang ada kat situ. Sempat tengok pokok Bunga Sundal Malam. Herba rupanya. Fungsinya, macam lavender, meningkatkan tahap sensual seseorang. Tetapi Sundal Malam nih khas untuk anak2 dara katanya. Huhuhu. Takot jadi pontianak je karang. Hehehe. Nak balik derang jamu dengan air2 herba macam air ekor kucing, miow.

Hari terakhir badan dah sihat sikit, alhamdulillah. Ada majlis penutup. Tapi ada lagi satu insiden kat otel nih yang aku geram sangat. Waktu majlis penutup, alarm kebakaran berbunyi, orang otel datang tolong tutup pintu bilik seminar. Yerla, kot2 fire drill ke? Tapi aku tak sedap hati, keluar kejap, turun bawah tengok2 memang ada kebakaran. Dah hangit dah. Basah kat bawah bomba siram. Yang lagi aku geram, kebakaran tu berlaku betul2 bawah bilik seminar kitorang. How can the hotel let us remain in the room sedangkan kat bawah kitorang tuh terbakar? Damn.

Fire Brigade

Controlled fire

Seriously this is the worst hotel (walaupon baru) I've ever been to. SO not safe. Even the food was not that good. Huhuhu...
