Assalamualaikum,
Remember when we used to play this game back at the 90's? A game called Theme Hospital where we are suppose to manage a hospital with patients coming in and we have to delegate everything so that everyone is happy. I do...and I enjoyed playing it. I used to make every patients head covered with smiling icons.
Well, today I accompanied my Mama to a clinic in a university hospital somewhere in Cheras [no need to mention name here] and it was the most horrible experience I had ever since I started escorting my Mama to the same clinic for the last 10 years. If I was in that Theme Hospital game, there will definitely a Devil's icon over my head.
Here's what happened...
Woke up early to beat the traffic and get pole position to see the doctor. Even thought we knew that the doctors won't be in until at least 9.30 am, it is always important to beat others for the numbers. Mama said normally everything will be settled at 11 am. So we waited...
and waited...
and waited...
until we lost our patience.
We inquired the attending nurse and she said the doctor is in. But how come no number has been called ever since? What is he doing in there?
With a second inquiry, we discovered the specialist doctor have been attending to a allegedly critical patient of his from his private clinic in Kampung Baru. [Yes...government doctors tend to have more than one job]. Apparently the patient went through a back door and cut the queue. How can this happen? What is the point of coming in early and getting smaller number when later people comes in earlier?
With a lot of people fuming at this incident, a bold nurse suddenly challenged my Mama to lodge a complain by filling up a form on the wall. From the way I heard it, she challenged my Mama as if she was so sure that no action will be taken to prevent this in the future.
Irritated by the nurse arrogant reaction towards my Mama, I suddenly began to reopen my hidden skill which is to write rather convincing complain notes like I used to do at a shopping mall near my house...hehe. She better regret challenging my Mama like that. I hope she gets what she deserve for being utterly rude.
And so after 5 and a half hour of waiting, Mama finally got to see the doctor. Unfortunately, she did'nt see the doctor who made all the delay. She got her blood test results and her prescriptions. Went to the dispensary and got the meds and went back home with tiredness clearly visible on our face.
Ironically, we came just to consult about my Mama's joint problem, ended going back home with a higher level of blood pressure. Damn.
It is true what they say..."Sick people gets cured in hospitals but healthy people gets sick in hospitals"
